Batteries
The Yedi Zen Lock (YZL 001) uses 3 × Protected 18650 Lithium-Ion Button-Top batteries. Not included in the box — must be purchased separately. Only use batteries with a built-in protection circuit (PCB); unprotected 18650 cells are not safe for this device.
We recommend the 3400mAh 10A Protected 18650 Button-Top from Li-ion Wholesale — tested with this device.
Replacement is done from the interior face of the lock. You'll need the Hex 2.0 screwdriver from your Yedi Platform Kit.
See How-To Videos for a visual walkthrough, or the Product Manual for diagrams.
Battery life varies by usage volume and environment. The Yedi dashboard shows live battery level per device and will alert you before power is lost. Keep a spare set of charged batteries at each facility. Store them cool and dry — never short, crush, or expose to water or extreme heat.
Charging the Batteries
The 18650 cells charge outside the lock using a dedicated charger — there is no built-in charging port. Two compatible 4-bay chargers below, one premium and one budget.
For multi-lock facilities, keep a rotating spare set of charged batteries so lock downtime is always zero.
Hardware Access
The cover uses a single Hex 2.0 (2mm Allen) screw, included in your Yedi Platform Kit. Any standard 2mm hex/Allen bit works as a replacement.

Yes — the Zen Lock uses 2.4GHz WiFi. A dropped connection can affect code verification. Confirm the facility network is active and in range, then retry. The lock also supports Bluetooth, NFC, keypad PIN, and mechanical key as alternate access methods while you troubleshoot.
Emergency Access
The Zen Lock has a mechanical key override. The keyhole is on the underside of the exterior lock face. Use the physical key provided on installation day.
The interior handle is always functional regardless of power state — the door can always be opened from inside.
